Nwakaeme Scores And Assists As Trabzonspor Beat Konyaspor In Turkish Super Lig

Former Super Eagles invitee Anthony Nwakaeme grabbed the headlines as Trabzonspor thrashed Konyaspor 3-1 in the Turkish Super Lig on Tuesday evening.
The experienced striker opened the scoring at the Medical Park Stadyumu (Trabzon) in the 21st minute, then set up Trabzonpor's second goal netted by Flavio ten minutes into the second half.
On the hour mark, Djaniny Tavares made sure the points were safe when he made it 3-0, before Levan Shengelia reduced the deficit two minutes from time.
Nwakaeme has been firing on all cylinders since joining Trabzonspor, ending his first season with a goal involvement of 22 (11 goals, 11 assists) in all competitions.
The 31-year-old also reached double figures for both goals and assists in 2019-2020, netting 14 and providing 11 assists in 43 matches across all competitions.
One of the most consistent Nigerian players in the European Leagues in recent season, he has not been called up to the national team since November 2017.
Following their win vs Konyaspor, Trabzonspor have climbed to seventh in the standings with 30 points.
