Official : Ogbeta Ends Nine-Year Association With Manchester City By Signing For The Blues
Published: January 26, 2021Nigeria-eligible fullback Nathanael Ogbeta has ended a nine-year association with Premier League giants Manchester City after joining Shrewsbury Town on a permanent deal, the EFL League One club have informed via their official webpage.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported eleven days ago that Ogbeta was posed to depart the Citizens because of a lack of first-team opportunities and was in talks with German and English clubs.
Ogbeta has put pen to paper on an eighteen-month contract with The Blues, keeping him at Montgomery Waters Meadow until the end of the 2021-2022 season.
Predominantly a left-back, the 19-year-old can also be deployed as a ball-playing center back and is blessed with leadership qualities, having captained Manchester City youth teams on a number of occasions.
One of the most exciting teenagers of Nigerian descent in England, he has represented the Young Lions at U16, U17, U18 and U20 levels, and became provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth when he started against Israel at the 2018 U17 EURO.
Ogbeta is eligible to make his professional debut for the Blues when they take on Peterborough United in the League One on Saturday, January 30.
