Paul Mukairu took home the man-of-the-match accolade after scoring and providing an assist as Anderlecht defeated RFC Liege 2-0 on Wednesday to advance to the next round of the Belgian Cup.
The 21-year-old admitted that he is more comfortable playing as a left winger but stressed that he's ready to play wherever manager Vincent Kompany wants.
Against RFC Liege, Mukairu was initially deployed as a playmaker before switching to the left wing and was part of almost every attacking move by Anderlecht.
In a post-match interview with Sporza, Mukairu stated : "When they put me in the left wing, it was more easy for me because number 10 is a new thing for me so I'm trying to adapt, trying to learn and I think it's a gradual process.
"Football, you learn every day, I keep learning, hopefully I'll do my best".
The Anderlecht number 12 added : "It's football, you have to try and play different positions when the coach needs you because sometimes injuries you just have to fill in for your teammates. It is about the team and not only myself."
Since joining Anderlecht from Antalyaspor in October 2020, Mukairu has been involved in 8 goals (3 goals, 5 assists) from 16 appearances in all competitions.
