Genk Star Onuachu Equals His Best-Ever Tally In A Single Season With Winner Vs Sint-Truiden
Published: February 10, 2021
Paul Onuachu has equaled his best-ever goal tally in a single season after finding the net for Racing Genk in their 1-0 victory over Sint-Truiden in a Belgian Cup clash at the Luminus Arena on Wednesday evening.
Just as everyone was preparing for extra-time and probably a penalty shootout, the Nigeria international popped up with the match-winning goal for the Limburg club in the 87th minute, assisted by Heynen.
It took Onuachu's tally for the 2020-2021 season to twenty-three goals in all competitions, 22 of which were scored in the Belgian First Division A.
Prior to this season, the FC Ebedei product was at his most prolific in the 2016-17 campaign with 23 goals from 45 matches in all competitions.
While none of goals came from penalties in his most productive season with FC Midtjylland, the lanky attacker has netted five times from the penalty spot this term.
With several games remaining in league and cup, it is all but confirmed that Onuachu will beat his scoring record for a single season in the coming weeks.
The 26-year-old will attempt to set a new personal record on Saturday when Genk visit KV Oostende.
