Anjorin Involved In Chelsea Final Training Session But Left Out Of Gameday Squad Vs Atletico Madrid
Published: February 23, 2021Anglo-Nigerian winger Faustino Anjorin will not make his second Champions League appearance when Chelsea face Spanish opponents Atletico Madrid in a mouthwatering clash at Arena Naţională (Bucharest) on Tuesday night.
Manager Thomas Tuchel has more or less announced his gameday squad for the round of 16 first leg clash against the La Liga table-toppers with 23 players part of the traveling contingent to the Romanian capital.
The first leg is being held in Romania not Madrid due to restrictions from the Spanish government on flights arriving from the United Kingdom.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Anjorin trained with the Chelsea first teamers in their final workout at the Training Ground in Cobham but the versatile winger was not in the squad that flew to Romania on Monday.
Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz have been picked over the England youth international.
Anjorin made his Champions League debut this season, playing for 80 minutes in a 1-1 draw vs Krasnodar back in December - his only start for the Blues' first team to date.
His last appearance for the first team was against Barnsley in the fifth round of the FA Cup on February 11.
