Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has picked Super Eagles target Nathan Tella as the Man of the Match in his side's 2-0 win against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday.
The former Arsenal schoolboy was simply unplayable, causing problems for the Sheffield United backline with his pace.
He was fouled on several occasions during the first half and won the penalty converted by James Ward-Prowse in the 32nd minute as the Saints took a deserved lead.
A goal would have capped off a fine performance from Tella but the number 23 saw his 25-yard low drive tipped round the post by Blades goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale midway through the second half.
Speaking to BBC Sport post-match, Hasenhuttl said : "We made finishing drills in the final session yesterday and I think it helped him (Che Adams).
"It is what you are here for as a substitute that you come on a show your qualities. He played well last year as well.
"Both strikers did a good job. Nathan Tella was the man of the match today because he was hard to defend and always nasty for every second ball."
Tella's progress with Southampton this season is being monitored by
manager Gernot Rohr's chief scout in England, Tunde Adelakun with a
view to a potential call-up to the Super Eagles.
