Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso has announced a 24-man provisional squad list for tonight's Serie A match against Bologna at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
One of the novelties in the preliminary squad is Victor Osimhen who received medical clearance to return to the pitch two days ago following a head injury he suffered against Atalanta on February 21.
Gattuso must drop at least one player from the squad before the start of the game as the Lega Serie A permits a maximum of twelve substitutes to be named on the bench.
Osimhen and five other players classed as strikers have been included in the provisional squad, the others being Politano, Insigne and Mertens as well as Primavera players Antonio Cioffi and Giuseppe D'Agostino.
Injuries have plagued the 2015 U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner since his record breaking move to Napoli, and he has missed up to nineteen matches in all competitions due to health issues.
In a breakout season at Lille in 2019-2020, Osimhen was omitted from only one matchday squad, against PSG due to accumulated bookings.
