'We have the quality' - Everton winger Iwobi wants to win 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria
Published: March 09, 2021
Everton winger Alex Iwobi is confident that Nigeria can with their fourth Africa Cup of Nations title next year in Cameroon.
Gernot Rohr's team are on the brink of qualifying for the number one football event in the Confederation of African football calendar as they need maximum of two points from their last two matches against Benin and Lesotho to be guaranteed qualification.
Iwobi was a key member of the Super Eagles squad that finished third at the last AFCON in Egypt and wants another chance to play against the top teams in Africa.
"The positive you can take is we are still on course to be top of the table, so we are confident we have the quality to do so and put 100% for 90 minutes this time, so we can qualify," Iwobi told BBC Sport Africa.
"The opportunity I was given last time to be involved in that competition, I want that feeling again.
"If you are in a competition you want to win it, [and] I believe us players feel we have the quality to do so.

"We'd like to play in the best competitions and win them, so we have to prove that against Lesotho and Benin."
Nigeria will face Benin at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo on March 27 and wrap up their schedule three days later against Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
