'We have chemistry' - CSKA dazzler Ejuke on his assist to ex-Newcastle striker Rodon
Published: March 18, 2021
Chidera Ejuke has commented on his assist to former Newcastle United and West Brom striker Salomón Rondón that led to CSKA Moscow's opening goal in a 3-2 loss to Zenit St. Petersburg in a Russian Premier League match on Wednesday.
Ejuke was disappointed that the Army Men eventually lost the game to their main rival in the title race.
A summer signing from SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands, the Super Eagles winger has now fully adapted to his teammates and has caught the eye since the resumption of the Russian Premier League last month, starting three out of a possible four matches.
Asked if he had already played with Rondon who joined the club last month, Ejuke was quoted as saying by CSKA Moscow's official website : "We have chemistry. We are all partners, like-minded people. We are trying to improve together with all the guys".
On the defeat to Zenit, he said : "As a team, we all fought together, fought. We understood who we were playing against.
"From the first minutes to the last they tried to show the best qualities, the best football. Unfortunately, it was not possible to achieve a positive result.
"We have seven more matches left. We will make every effort, and then we will see where we will finish the championship. I believe that we still have every chance to fix everything. "
Ejuke has now recorded two assists and scored twice in eighteen league matches for CSKA Moscow this term.
