'Chukwueze has been brilliant' - Unai Emery lauds Super Eagles winger after Villarreal's win vs Cadiz
Published: March 22, 2021Samuel Chukwueze may not have gotten on the scoresheet or provided an assist for Villarreal in their 2-1 win against Cadiz at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Sunday but manager Unai Emery was pleased with the performance of his number 11.
Goals from Gerard Moreno, from the penalty spot, and Carlos Bacca secured a win for the Yellow Submarine while Alex Fernández pulled a goal back for the visitors.
Chukwueze came close to bagging an assist four minutes before the interval but Bacca could not convert his low cross.
In quotes relayed by Marca after the post-match press conference, Emery said : "In terms of game we have generated more attacks at the opposing goal. We have lacked something else of success in the last pass, Samu (Chukwueze) has been brilliant in the overflow but has yet to finish.
"We have to rest and catch a little air for what is to come in the league and Europe. "
Chukwueze has helped Villarreal rack up four consecutive wins in all competitions - two in La Liga and two in the Europa League.
