Prolific striker of Nigerian descent bags hat-trick for Crystal Palace in big win over West Ham U18s
Published: April 07, 2021
A hat-trick from prolific Nigeria-eligible striker David Omilabu
helped title-chasing Crystal Palace thrash West Ham 5-1 in an U18
Premier League match on Wednesday afternoon.
Omilabu
and fullback Tayo Adaramola started for the young Eagles, while Victor
Akinwale and Ademola Ola-AdebomiĀ came off the bench in the 67th and
84th minute respectively.
Palace had an
early chance to take the lead when the referee pointed to the spot after
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was fouled in the box, Omilabu stepped up to
convert the spot kick and put the home side in the driving seat.
It was 2-1 at the break, with Diallo reducing the deficit after Wells-Morrison had made it 2-0.
Omilabu
dusted himself off and restored Palace's two-goal cushion from the spot
in the 54th minute after a mistimed tackle by a Hammers player.
On the hour mark, the number 9 completed his hat-trick, tapping in after the West Ham defence was opened.
Omilabu is the leading scorer in the U18 Premier League South with 16 goals from fifteen appearances.
Palace have gone top of the division, three points clear of Fulham, after their convincing win over West Ham.
