Balogun on the verge of signing new contract with Arsenal amid interest from Bayer Leverkusen
Arsenal are poised to secure American-born striker of Nigerian descent Folarin Balogun to a new deal, according to reports.

Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that the England youth international is going to turn down an important contract bid from Bayer Leverkusen to stay at Arsenal.

Romano has claimed that Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, who has close links with Balogun's Nigerian agent Emeka Obasi, were never in the race to sign the Hale End Academy product.

There was uncertainty over the future of Balogun at Arsenal with his contract up in the summer but it appears manager Mikel Arteta has managed to convince him to extend his stay.

If terms are agreed, then he would be signing a new deal keeping him at the Emirates Stadium until the end of the 2024-2025 season.

Balogun has appeared in four matches for Arsenal's first team in this season's Europa League, scoring two goals and has one assist to his name.
