Sodje shows the other side of his game as Man City U18s top scorer's late tackle results in red card
Published: April 24, 2021Tai Sodje received a red card as Manchester City continued their hunt for the U18 Premier League North title by beating Burnley 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
It was something destined to happen before the end of the 2020-2021 season as the Anglo-Nigerian goal poacher has a very poor disciplinary record for a striker, with nine yellow cards to his name in nineteen games, approximately a booking every other game, prior to today's clash against the Clarets.
It's an aspect of his game not talked about much because he has delivered on the pitch with 19 goals in 20 league matches, making him the top scorer in the whole of the U18 Premier League.
Eight minutes before half-time, Sodje was shown his marching orders for a late challenge on a Burnley player leaving City a man down with around one hour left to play.
The Citizens managed to secure a win without their influential striker thanks to goals from Oscar Bobb and Carlos Borges.
With four matches remaining, Manchester City are third in the table with 48 points but have a game in hand over Manchester United who lead the way with 51 points.
