Dead-ball guru Nwakali scores for third match running but Alcorcon are beaten by Leganes
Published: April 26, 2021
Kelechi Nwakali was on target as Alcorcón were beaten 2-1 by Leganes in a LaLiga 2 clash at the Estadio Santo Domingo on Sunday, April 25.
Leganes manager Asier Garitano could not count on Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo who was serving a suspension following the red card he received in the penultimate round of matches in the division.
2015 U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner Nwakali confidently dispatched his spot-kick to give Alcorcón the lead in the ninth minute.
It was the third consecutive game that the former Arsenal midfielder had registered his name on the scoresheet, following goals against CD Castellón and CD Lugo.
The dead-ball specialist scored two goals from the spot and a direct free-kick during his goalscoring run.
Shibasaki restored parity for Leganes in the 44th minute, before José Arnáiz scored what proved to be the winning goal on the hour mark.
SD Huesca-owned Nwakali has chalked up thirteen starts since his loan move to Alcorcón in the winter transfer market.
