Highly-rated winger of Nigerian descent Shola Shoretire inspired Manchester United to a convincing 6-2 win over Derby County in a Premier League 2 match at the Loughborough University Football Stadium on Monday evening.
Derby County duo Osazee Aghatise and Ola Ibrahim started against their former clubs, while Shoretire made United's starting lineup.
The aforementioned players of Nigerian descent were involved in five of the eight goals scored during the match, with Ibraham getting a goal, Aghatise providing an assist, and Shoretire netting a brace and setting up a goal.
The visitors took a very early advantage when Anthony Elanga opened the scoring with a brilliant strike after thirty seconds; there was a second goal with less than four minutes played and it was Derby County with the equaliser as Ibrahim fired into the far corner.
A terrific strike from Cresswell made it 2-1, the number 9 curled a spectacular shot into the far corner after he was picked out on the edge of the area by Aghatise.
On 39 minutes, Shoretire, who is in United's first team picture, tapped in the rebound to make it 3-2 after an initial save by the Rams goalkeeper.
There was further twist in the tale as Forson got in on the act after a brilliant through ball from Shoretire, giving United a 4-2 lead at the break.
With fourteen minutes to play, Shoretire got back on the scoresheet with a clinical left-footed finish from close range, taking his tally to ten goals in the Premier League 2.
Manchester United climb to fifth in the table following the win while Derby County are seventh.
