'He can easily stay in Serie A' - Crotone chief on the future of 19-goal striker Simy
Published: May 04, 2021
Crotone's sporting director Giuseppe Ursino has spoken about the future of the club's all-time top scorer Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo.
The Nigeria international has had a banner season, scoring nineteen goals for bottom team Crotone.
With The Sharks' relegation confirmed after their loss to Inter Milan this past weekend, Ursino believes Simy has already put himself in the shop window and is backing the striker to be a success if he joins one of the mid-table teams in the Italian top-flight in the summer.
"He has grown a lot over the years, this year out of the ordinary. He can easily stay in Serie A, in a medium-high range," Ursino said on TMW Radio.
"He seems awkward but it's not like that, he's right when he says he's made that way but the ball puts it in.
"He's very intelligent and never gets depressed. He's there on the bench but he always wants to get to the top: I've seen him over the years, from the first minute of Crotone he had certain ambitions and for me he will succeed".
The likes of Genoa, Sampdoria and Udinese are monitoring the situation of Simy with a view to a swoop when the transfer market reopens in the coming weeks.
