'It would be good to achieve it' - Almeria striker Sadiq eyes Pichichi prize
Published: May 04, 2021
Almeria striker Umar Sadiq has admitted that he is eyeing the Segunda Division's Pichichi prize for the 2020-2021 season.
With 18 goals to his name, the 2016 Olympics bronze medalist is the third highest goalscorer in LaLiga 2 despite missing the first four matches of the season after joining from Partizan Belgrade.
Only Espanyol's Raúl de Tomás (22) and Sporting Gijon's Uro Đurđević (21) have managed to score more goals than the former Nigeria international five matches to the end of the regular season.
"Individually I am satisfied with the number of goals I have achieved, but in reality the most important thing for me, the primary objective, is promotion to First Division and we are going to fight for it even through the playoffs," Sadiq told reporters in Spain.
"I do not continuously look at the Pichichi data, it would be good to achieve it, but what I focus the most on is not so much in scoring, but in the team doing it, I like to give assists and score points for the team.
"If I succeed and help the team reach its goal, I would be very happy with it."
Sadiq's brilliant performances have seen him linked with a move to Sevilla in the summer transfer window.
