Champions League-chasing Atalanta join Sevilla in race for 26-goal striker Sadiq
Published: May 08, 2021
Champions League-chasing Atalanta are the latest club being linked with a summer move for 2016 Olympics bronze medalist Umar Sadiq.
Spanish newspaper La Voz de Almeria claims that the destination of Sadiq could be Italian Serie A as Atalanta have identified the Almeria striker as a possible reinforcement for next season.
The 24-year-old is having a fantastic season at Almeria, scoring eighteen goals in the second-tier of Spanish football and only Espanyol's Raul de Tomas (22) and Sporting Gijon's Uro Durdevic (21) have managed to score more than the Nigerian in this season's LaLiga 2.
When Sadiq registered the game-winning assist in Almeria's 1-0 win at CD Tenerife last night, it took his goal involvement to 34 (26 goals, 8 assists) combined for the season - a joint career best for the Football College Abuja product.
Sadiq would be keen on a move to Atalanta if a deal could be agreed as he knows Italian football very well, having previously spent time at Roma, Spezia, Perugia, Torino and Bologna.
Atalanta, who are second in the Serie A table, face competition from Sevilla for the services of the Nigerian attacker.
