Bournemouth playmaker Philip Billing has ended speculation about his place of birth - once and for all.
Previously, Billing's Wikipedia page listed him as being born in Nigeria's commercial capital, Lagos, not Copenhagen in Denmark.
The confusion arose because the Huddersfield Town academy product has siblings who are purely white while he is of mixed race having been born to a Danish mother and Nigerian dad.
Setting the record straight, Billing told Bournemouth's official webpage : "I was born and bred in Denmark. My father is Nigerian and my mum is Danish so I am mixed race.
"I think a lot of people get confused because my younger sister and brother are both white and my mum had them with my step-dad."
Billing has been approached by the Nigeria Football Federation to switch his international allegiance from Denmark to Nigeria and it is something he's now considering after he was omitted from Denmark's 26-man roster for the upcoming European Championship.
The 24-year-old finished third in the public vote for the Bournemouth Supporters' Player of the Year award for the 2020-2021 campaign.
Billing finished the season with a career-high eight league goals after being moved into the number ten role by head coach Jonathan Woodgate for the second half of the campaign.
