Watford, Leeds, Palace handed transfer boost as ex-Nigeria U23 invitee rejects Sheffield Wednesday offer
Published: June 03, 2021
Leeds United, Crystal Palace, Watford and Cardiff City might have been handed a boost in their pursuit of former Nigeria U23 invitee Osaze Urhoghide.
Yorkshire Live claims that Urhoghide has made a decision on his future with Sheffield Wednesday after the central defender rejected a new contract, paving the way for him to leave the Owls as a free agent in the summer transfer window.
Sporting Lisbon and Club Brugge have also been credited with an interest in Urhoghide who trained with Nigeria's U23 team before an Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya in 2019.
The 20-year-old managed to make 17 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday in 2020-2021 despite a knee injury keeping him on the sidelines for several months.
The versatile defender who can operate as either a full-back or a center-back joined Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2019 following a successful trial, after he was released by AFC Wimbledon.
Born in the Netherlands to Nigerian parents, he is also eligible to represent Netherlands and England at international level.
