Watford, two other clubs left in the race to sign Chelsea's Nigerian striker; Fulham miss out
Published: June 11, 2021
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Ike Ugbo's destination in the summer transfer window has been narrowed down to three clubs based in England, Germany and Belgium.
The Super Eagles hopeful is preparing to bid farewell to his boyhood club Chelsea, fourteen years after joining the Blues as a schoolboy.
Ugbo is not lacking suitors after a breakout season at Cercle Brugge that saw him score 17 goals in 34 matches across all competitions and ending the season as Chelsea's top scoring loanee.
Watford, Eintracht Frankfurt and Racing Genk are the final three teams left in the race to sign the former England U17 international, and Chelsea are in talks with the three clubs.
Genk are in the market for a striker with the future of Nigeria international Paul Onuachu up in the air, and Ugbo is high on their wishlist having caught the eye in last season's Belgian First Division A.
Fulham had interest in Ugbo, so did the likes of Monaco, Rostov, CSKA Moscow and Bologna, but they have all missed out on his signature.
The 22-year-old has taken in loan spells at Barnsley, Milton Keynes Dons, Scunthorpe United and Roda JC since turning professional.
