Former Inter Milan midfielder Awua subject of interest from Crotone
Published: June 14, 2021
According to Tuttoc citing Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Inter Milan midfielder Theophilus Awua is drawing interested from demoted Serie A side Crotone.
Crotone manager Francesco Modesto has made a request to the club to acquire Awua who is currently on the books of Spezia.
Modesto is seeking a reunion with his former pupil having previously coached him at Rende and Pro Vercelli, the Nigerian appeared in 52 games combined and was on target on six occasions.
Last season, Awua recorded 21 appearances for Pro Vercelli and helped them reach the Serie C playoffs, where they were beaten on aggregate by Südtirol.
A product of Football College Abuja, the defensive-minded midfielder has also enjoyed loan spells at Livorno, Bari, Cittadella and Juve Stabia since transferring to Spezia in 2017.
Given his talent and the rave reviews he constantly receives from the media, it's only a matter of time before Awua departs Spezia on a permanent basis due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
