Super Eagles fullback transfer fee and wages too expensive for Dutch club Twente
Published: June 16, 2021
FC Twente would love to retain the services of Tyronne Ebuehi next season but it has become practically difficult.
The Super Eagles fullback proved that his injury problems are well and truly over while on loan at the Enschede side for the entirety of last season, starting all but one of the matches played by the club in all competitions.
According to Dutch football magazine Voetbal International, Twente signing Ebuehi on a permanent basis is difficult because the option to buy and the player's wages are too high for the Eredivisie side.
Ebuehi's loan move to Twente included an option to buy set at two million euros but the club cannot afford that and they are now exploring ways to re-sign him on loan again, something which may not be feasible because Benfica want to sell him outright.
Even though Ebuehi's contract runs until June 30, 2022, Benfica are looking to part company with him as he's out of favour at the club.
The 25-year-old has appeared in seven matches for Benfica U23s and six for the B team since his move to the Eagles in the summer of 2018.
