Spartak owner's wife blasts sporting director over his decision not to buy Chelsea wing-back Moses
Published: June 19, 2021
Zarema Salikhova, wife of the owner of Spartak Moscow Leonid Fedun, has taken to social media to criticize the sporting director of the Red and Whites, Dmitri Popov, for some of the transfer decisions he took.
Salikhova has claimed that Popov declared Swedish striker Jordan Larsson, Russia center back Georgi Dzhikiya and Chelsea-owned wing-back Victor Moses surplus to requirements ahead of the forthcoming season.
Though the futures of Larsson and Dzhikiya remains covered in mist, the same cannot be said for the former Nigeria international, with Spartak Moscow on the verge of confirming his permanent acquisition from Chelsea.
Spartak had no choice but to activate the mandatory purchase clause inserted into the loan deal bringing him to the Russian capital after they qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Moses was voted Spartak Moscow's Player of the Month for May after contributing one goal and two assists in three matches.
Writing on Telegram, Salikhova said : "How can I believe the sports director, who since March tried to convey that Larsson does not solve, he should be sold for 12 (million euros) this summer, Moses should be covered and not bought back from Chelsea, and Dzhikiya-captain should not be renewed.
"I needed these three in the line-up alone. Are you definitely not a pest? LA heard me and rewrote your transfer plan.
"Don't forget, Dima, you were taken to the club to bring quality Brazilians like Welliton and Alex. Social networks are not yours at all. Every action you take will now be watched not only by me, but also by all the fans".
Moses embarked on six different loan spells at Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham, Fenerbahce, Inter Milan and Spartak Moscow due to a lack of first-team opportunities at Chelsea, whom he joined from Wigan Athletic in August 2012.
