Teenage Nigeria-eligible fullback departs Arsenal after four years
Published: June 22, 2021Nigeria-eligible fullback Daniel Oyegoke has taken to social media to announce his departure from Premier League club Arsenal.
The 2003-born right-back was offered a new deal to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium but has apparently turned down the offer, bringing an end to his four-year association with the north London side.
Oyegoke joined the Gunners from Barnet, rising through the ranks before signing a scholarship deal and establishing himself as a key player for the U18s.
Last season, he appeared in twelve matches for Arsenal's U21 and U23 teams, and was involved in four matches in the U18 Premier League.
Writing on Instagram, Oyegoke said : "What a journey it’s been @arsenal! I have learnt so much during my time at this great club and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
"Thank you to the staff and players that have helped me along the way, I am so grateful for the opportunity and chance to stay, but it’s time for a new challenge. Thank you for everything!"
Oyegoke, who is eligible to represent Nigeria through his dad, has caps for England at U16, U17 and U18 levels.
