Official : Houston Dash sign American-born Nigeria international as NTRP
Published: July 03, 2021With a statement on their official website, National Women's Soccer League club Houston Dash have announced the signing of American-born Nigeria international Michelle Alozie as a National Team Replacement Player (NTRP).
For the sake of clarity, National Team Replacement players can be signed when a national team player is away on international duty and will not count against the team's roster limit.
Alozie will be available for selection throughout the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The versatile center-forward spent a season with BIIK Kazygurt in Kazakhstan and had to return to her country of birth due to the global pandemic.
Over her time at Yale during her collegiate career, she directly participated in 32 goals (19 goals, 13 assists).
Alozie was arguably the standout player for the Super Falcons at the 2021 WNT Summer Series, making her international debut against Jamaica and then scored her first goal against Portugal before playing as a wing-back in the loss to the United States.
The 24-year-old made her league debut for Houston Dash on Saturday, playing the last 22 minutes of a 2-0 win against OL Reign at BBVA Stadium.
