Tudor Mendel-Idowu is the second player of Nigerian descent that signed a scholarship with Premier League giants Chelsea ahead of the new season.
Mendel-Idowu was a schoolboy at Chelsea in 2020-2021 and predominantly played for the U16 squad.
Richard Olise and Mendel-Idowu are no longer eligible for the U16s and have been promoted to the U18s for the 2021-2022 campaign, along with eight other first-year scholars.
The very intelligent teenager attends the prestigious Eton College where he studies a range of subjects including English, Greek, German, Latin, Mathematics and Physics.
Mendel-Idowu participated in the British reality competition, Child Genius of the Year 2014, finishing in second place.
The Anglo-Nigerian, who joined Chelsea at U8 level, was called up to the England U15 squad for a friendly against Republic of Ireland in December 2019.
