Confirmed : Teenage Nigeria-eligible winger sign new contract with Aston Villa
Published: July 07, 2021With a statement on their official website, English Premier League club Aston Villa have announced that professional contracts have been awarded to another six Academy players who were part the club's FA Youth Cup-winning squad.
Villa have confirmed that Nigeria-eligible youngster Chisom Afoka is among the players who signed new deals.
Last season, the 17-year-old made sixteen appearances in the U18 Premier League including ten starts and was on the bench against Stoke City in the Premier League 2.
A winger by trade, Afoka has informed allnigeriasoccer.com that he has represented England at U15 level.
He made his FA Youth Cup debut against Burton Albion in a round of sixteen tie in April 2021, going the distance in a 9-0 win.
Afoka follows in the footsteps of another teenager of Nigerian descent Ruben Shakpoke, the son of former Super Eagles fullback Jero Shakpoke, who signed his first professional contract at Aston Villa in January 2021.
