Super Eagles midfielder joins Watford on loan with option to buy
Published: July 08, 2021
English Premier League side Watford are on the verge of confirming the signing of Nigeria international Oghenekaro Etebo.
The online edition of The Sun UK broke the news on Wednesday that the Hornets are ready to snap up Stoke City midfielder Etebo on loan, paving the way for Will Hughes to depart the club.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Etebo arrived at Vicarage Road on Thursday morning ahead of his unveiling.
This website can exclusively report that the Stoke City midfielder will join Watford on a season-long loan with an option to buy inserted into the agreement.
There is no going back on Etebo's transfer to Watford as he has already signed the loan deal and only an official announcement is left.
Watford will automatically activate the purchase option in his loan contract if they maintain their Premier League status at the end of the 2021-2022 campaign.
The Hornets have finally gotten their man in Etebo, three years after they missed out on his signature to Stoke City.
The former Warri Wolves star has enjoyed loan spells at Getafe and Galatasaray since transferring to the Potters.
Etebo is the second Super Eagles player to join Watford in the summer transfer window, after Emmanuel Dennis who was acquired from Club Brugge.
