Anglo-American-Nigerian striker on why he chose Norwich City, international future, strengths
Published: July 09, 2021
Kenny Coker was recently rewarded with his first professional contract by Norwich City, less than two months after the Canaries confirmed his capture from Football League club Southend United on scholarship terms.
Having made his professional debut at the age of sixteen, the highly-rated center-forward admitted that other clubs were interested in his signature but he opted for Norwich City because there's a clear pathway into the first team.
Indeed, Nigeria-eligible duo Andrew Omobamidele (19) and Tyrese Omotoye (18) were handed their senior debuts by manager Daniel Farke last season as teenagers.
On why he chose Norwich City over his other suitors, Coker told allnigeriasoccer.com : "I really like the way Norwich play football and there is a obvious path into the first team there, so it seemed like a no-brainer".
Born in the United States of America to an English mom and Nigerian father, Coker is eligible to represent the Super Eagles, Three Lions and Stars and Stripes.
"I was born in Atlanta, Georgia. My mum is English and my dad is Nigerian so I haven't decided which nation I would play for yet, I am just going to take it all as it comes," said Coker.
The Anglo-American-Nigerian youngster has highlighted his strengths as a striker and revealed his personal targets for the upcoming season.
"As a striker I like to get in behind and take players on, I can also hold the ball up well to link up with other players and winning headers is also a good part of my game.
"For this season I just want to score as many goals as I can and hopefully become a regular in the U23 side," Coker concluded.
