Nigeria-eligible striker Dire Mebude has taken to social media to announce that he signed a new deal with English Premier League champions Manchester City.
Dire is the younger brother of Dapo Mebude who ended a nine-year association with Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers in the close season.
Born in Kent on May 28, 2004, Dire Mebude has been awarded his first professional contract at Manchester City.
Writing on Instagram, Mebude stated : "First professional contract with @mancity ! Big ups to the family for always being there".
Manchester City U18s top scorer last season Tai Sodje and ex-Chelsea youth team defender Ashley Akpan were among those to congratulate Mebude on his new contract with The Citizens.
Signed from Glasgow Rangers on scholarship terms in September 2020, Mebude was a member of the Manchester City side that won the U18 Premier League national title last season, making seven appearances in total.
Mebude has been called up to train with Scotland youth teams in the past and is eligible to represent Nigeria through his dad.
