Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reveals 'Rangers, Brentford target' has joined Royal Antwerp
Published: July 09, 2021
Speculation linking Alhassan Yusuf with possible moves to British clubs Glasgow Rangers and Brentford was wrong as the promising midfielder is heading to the Belgian First Division A instead.
It will be recalled that Yusuf was quick to dismiss reports suggesting that he was wanted by the Bees and Light Blues.
Swedish newspaper Goteborg Posten citing Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano says Royal Antwerp have reached an agreement with Allsvenskan outfit IFK Goteborg for the signing of Yusuf.
IFK Goteborg agreed to shred their agreement with the Nigerian a year before its expiration in exchange for 1.5 million euros (approximately N0.88 billion).
Yusuf recently switched agents from Patrick Mork's Global Soccer Management to Stellar Group and David Manasseh.
The 20-year-old is departing IFK Goteborg after 76 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.
Antwerp are competing in the 2021-2022 edition of the UEFA Europa League playoffs, by virtue of finishing third in the Pro League last season.
Jason Adesanya, Dominic Iorfa, Bimbo Fatokun, Tosin Dosunmu and Funso Ojo turned out for Antwerp in their playing careers.
