Club Brugge ahead of Rangers, Aston Villa, Norwich in race for Northampton's Chukwuemeka
Published: July 13, 2021Belgian champions Club Brugge are reportedly in pole position to sign Northampton Town's Anglo-Nigerian striker Caleb Chukwuemeka.
Football League World citing Pete O’Rourke has reported that the Cobblers are set to lose Chukwuemeka with the striker close to signing a contract with Club Brugge.
The 19-year-old was previously linked with Scottish champions Rangers and Premier League duo Norwich City and Aston Villa.
Caleb's younger brother, Carney Chukwuemeka is one of the standout players in the Aston Villa Academy, making two appearances for the first team in the Premier League last term and helped the U18s win the FA Youth Cup.
The older Chukwuemeka totaled 28 appearances in all competitions for Northampton Town in 2020-2021, scoring two goals with one assist to his name.
Predominantly a center forward, Chukwuemeka is also comfortable playing as a winger.
Northampton Town were demoted to the fourth-tier of English football at the end of last season after finishing 22nd in League One.
