Bayer Leverkusen eye move for Liverpool's Nigerian winger as replacement for Everton-linked Gray
Published: July 19, 2021
German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen have started planning for life without Demarai Gray, who is heavily linked with a transfer to Premier League side Everton before the close of the transfer window.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Bayer Leverkusen are eyeing Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo as a primary target to replace Gray.
It is confirmed that Die Werkself have opened a line of communication with Ojo's camp over a deal.
Gray's imminent move to Everton would help make room for the Anglo-Nigerian in the Bayer Leverkusen squad.
Ojo is not in the plans of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for the forthcoming season, so much so that he was left out of the Reds pre-season training camp in Austria.
The 2017 U20 World Cup winner with England has not featured for Liverpool's first team since January 18, 2017 when he played the last fourteen minutes of an FA Cup third round clash against Plymouth Argyle.
Ojo has taken in loan spells at Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Reins, Glasgow Rangers and Cardiff City since joining Liverpool.
