Official : 2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning midfielder joins Portuguese club Chaves

Liga Portugal 2 side G.D Chaves have announced the signing of 2013
Africa Cup of Nations-winning midfielder Obiora Nwankwo on undisclosed
terms.
Nwankwo has extensive experience in European football, having worn the colours of Inter Milan, Parma and Boavista in the past.
His other clubs include Gubbio, Padova, CFR Cluj, Córdoba, Académica de Coimbra and Levadiakos.
The 30-year-old has already started training with his new teammates under the guidance of manager Vítor Campelos.
Nwankwo
will be aiming to assist Chaves secure promotion to the Portuguese
top-flight at the end of the 2021-2022 season after they finished sixth
in the second tier last term.
The
defensive midfielder played once for the Super Eagles at the 2013 AFCON,
in a group stage game versus Zambia, and has been capped at U20 and U23
levels.
Chaves begin the new season against Varzim at the Estádio Varzim Sport Club on August 7.
