Winger of Nigerian descent returns to Chelsea training after coronavirus-enforced stoppage
Published: July 29, 2021
Talented winger of Nigerian descent Faustino Anjorin has returned to Chelsea first team training after a PCR test for coronavirus came back negative.
Anjorin had to isolate after contracting coronavirus and was not involved in Chelsea's first official pre-season match with Bournemouth on Tuesday, July 27.
He was among the first set of players to report for pre-season training on Friday, July 9, prior to his coronavirus-enforced stoppage.
The England youth international will be behind the other players in fitness and has ground to make up.
Anjorin was involved in Thursday's group session at Chelsea's Training Ground in Cobham.
It remains to be seen whether the Anglo-Nigerian will be named in the matchday squad for Chelsea's upcoming pre-season match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, August 1.
Since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea boss, Anjorin has made only one appearance for the first team, against Barnsley in the FA Cup, and was a non-playing substitute against Atlético Madrid, Fulham and Arsenal.
Last season, he traveled with Chelsea's first team for the
Champions League showpiece vs Manchester City and was handed a winner's
medal though he didn't participate in the final.
