Why Victor Moses missed Spartak Moscow's win versus Ural
Published: August 15, 2021
For the first time in the new Russian Premier League season, former Chelsea star Victor Moses was not included in Spartak Moscow's matchday squad.
Manager Rui Vitória did not call up the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner for his side's clash against Ural on Saturday, August 14 because he is still recovering from injury.
Without Moses in the squad, the Muscovites returned to winning ways, beating Ural 1-0 courtesy of Roman Zobnin's 27th minute winner.
The number 8 has been on the sidelines since colliding with an opponent during the first half of the 2-1 home loss to
Nizhny Novgorod on matchday three.
The former Nigeria international wasn't in the Spartak Moscow squad beaten 2-0 by Benfica in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League last week.
The 30-year-old ended a nine-year association with European champions Chelsea last month by signing a two-year contract with the Red and White.

Moses was arguably Spartak's standout player during the preseason, scoring in four consecutive matches, but has yet to open his 2021-2022 account after four appearances in all competitions.
