Watford's Dennis joins Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham stars, 3 others in EPL TOTW
Published: August 16, 2021Emmanuel Dennis has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the opening round of matches in the English Premier League, with celebrated football statistics website Whoscored naming the Watford striker in its Team of the Week.
The Super Eagles star did exactly what was expected of him on his Premier
League debut on Saturday afternoon, scoring and providing an assist as an impressive Watford
team defeated Aston Villa 3-2 at Vicarage Road.
Eight different Premier League teams are represented on the Team of the Week namely Brentford, Manchester City, Brighton & Hove, Chelsea, West Ham United, Liverpool, Manchester United and Watford.
Manchester United have contributed the most players, three in the shape of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood, followed by West Ham with two in the form of Aaron Cresswell and Tomas Soucek.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Dennis, who was rated at 8.8, is partnered in attack by Manchester United wonderkid Greenwood (9.0).
Liverpool's Salah (9.2), United duo Fernandes (9.1) and Pogba (9.0) were the other players who were rated higher than Dennis in the TOTW.
Against Aston Villa, the former Club Brugge man played five shots, three of which were on target - a game-high figure - and made three key passes.
Dennis completed one take-on, made two tackles, was accurate in 80 percent of his passes and won one foul for Watford before he was substituted in the 65th minute.
His international teammate William Troost-Ekong has not been selected in the best XI, with Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah and Brighton's Shane Duffy picked as the two central defenders
