Four Nigerians named in Salzburg's UCL playoff round squad but ex-Eaglets skipper misses out
Published: August 17, 2021
Austrian Bundelsiga champions Salzburg have registered four young players of Nigerian descent for the playoff round of the UEFA Champions League.
American-Swiss-Nigerian-Congolese defender Bryan Okoh (18) is joined on the roster by German-Romanian-Nigerian striker Karim Adeyemi (19), Austrian-Nigerian center forward Chukwubuike Adamu (20) and Swiss-Nigerian winger Noah Okafor (21).
The aforementioned youngsters could be involved in some capacity when Salzburg face Brondby in the first leg of their playoff Champions League tie at the Red Bull Arena (Wals-Siezenheim) this evening.
Former Golden Eaglets captain Samson Tijani has not been selected in the squad list by manager Matthias Jaissle.
The fringe Super Eagles player is seemingly surplus to requirements for the new season as he has not participated in any of the five competitive matches by Salzburg.
Adamu and Okafor have been registered on Salzburg's List A, while Okoh and Adeyemi are on the List B reserved for U21 players who have been registered with the club for the previous two years.
Okoh, Adamu, Adeyemi and Okafor will be wearing the number 3, 9, 27 and 77 respectively if they figure against Brondby.
