Is Ike Ugbo joining Marseille? Chelsea striker finally chooses his next club
Published: August 22, 2021
Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that there is no going back on Ike Ugbo's proposed move to Belgian Cup winners Racing Genk.
Speculation was rife last week that French club Marseille were negotiating the transfer of the Super Eagles hopeful but this website understands that there was nothing concrete about a move to the Ligue 1.
Even if Marseille firm up their interest now, the Chelsea striker's mind is already made up on joining Genk.
Ugbo is hoping to complete his transfer to Racing Genk this week but the dates of his arrival in Belgium, physical examination and presentation have not been confirmed yet.
If he passes his medical with flying colours, a four-year deal is on the table for him to sign with the Limburg club.
Ugbo had plenty of suitors from France, England, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Russia before opting to continue his career in the Belgian First Division A - a league he knows so well after a spell with Cercle Brugge last season.
His current deal with Chelsea will expire on June 30, 2022.
