'They are interested' - Ex-Sunderland director of football confirms Black Cats want Arsenal defender
Published: August 24, 2021
Former Director of Football at Sunderland, Roberto De Fanti has confirmed that the Black Cats are exploring ways to sign Nigeria-eligible right-back Ryan Alebiosu.
De Fanti, founder of London-based football agency RDF Football Ltd, looks after the versatile Anglo-Nigerian defender.
Alebiosu is keen to experience first team football and open to a move to the Stadium of Light before the close of the transfer window.
Back in the summer of 2018, the 19-year-old was in the same scholarship intake as Bukayo Saka and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo who have been promoted to the Gunners first team.
Speaking directly to allnigeriasoccer.com, De Fanti said when asked to confirm reports linking his client with Sunderland : "They are interested, it is a loan".
Alebiosu faced League One opposition last season, going the distance in Papa John's Trophy matches against Ipswich Town and AFC Wimbledon.
