Leicester coach reveals he tried to sign Super Eagles hopeful during his time in charge of Celtic
Leicester City reinforced their squad with the loan signing of Ademola Lookman from RB Leipzig on transfer deadline day.

The Super Eagles hopeful is very much in contention to make his competitive debut for the Foxes when they take on the champions Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking at Thursday's pre-match press conference, manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted to bring in Lookman, adding that he tried to sign the versatile winger during his time in charge of Glasgow Celtic.

The Northern Irishman has been keeping tabs on the 2017 U20 World Cup winner since he was a schoolboy at Charlton Athletic.

In quotes relayed by LeicestershireLive, Rodgers stated : "I’m really excited about working with Ade. He’s a top talent.

"I wanted to take him to Celtic when he was at Charlton. I was aware of him when he was 15. "

The Foxes boss went on to highlight the qualities of Lookman and underlined that his new number 19 will dazzle the fans.

"He has all the tools, he has a great dribbling ability, how he views the game, he has an eye for a goal.

"My hope is that this environment will give him a chance to flourish. Hopefully he can find a home here. I have no doubt the supporters will be excited by him."

The RB Leipzig loanee was a joy to watch last season at Fulham, for whom he scored four goals and provided four assists in 34 top-flight matches.
