'You can see his quality' - Leicester City boss hails Napoli's most expensive player
Published: September 17, 2021
Leicester came up a very quality side in Napoli as they were held to a 2-2 draw by the Italian Serie A side in their Europa League stage opener on Thursday night.
The Foxes did not heed the warning of several pundits who had highlighted before the game that Victor Osimhen could be the main threat and paid dearly for it.
Napoli invested heavily to sign Osimhen from Lille in the summer of 2020, paying a club record 70 million euros plus performance-related add-ons.
Ayoze Pérez and Harvey Barnes found the net to give the Foxes what appeared to be a comfortable two-goal lead but could not build on it as Osimhen struck twice to salvage a draw for The Parthenopeans.
Northern Irish football tactician Brendan Rodgers made no secret of his admiration for the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner after the game.

Speaking to Leicester City's official website post-match, Rodgers said : "We had some players getting their first 90 minutes of the season as well, and then obviously, their big striker (Victor Osimhen), who’s £70-odd-million, so you can see his quality, and he gets his two goals."
Osimhen was on the transfer shortlist of several top European clubs following an impressive haul of 18 goals in 38 matches for Lille in 2019-2020 but it was Napoli that won the race for his signature.
