Iheanacho battles Brentford, PNE, Arsenal, Man City stars for Carabao Cup Goal of the Round
Published: September 24, 2021
Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is up for the Carabao Cup Goal of Round Three.
The official website of the EFL has published the names of five players whose goals have been nominated for the prize with the Nigeria international making the cut.
In his bid to win the accolade, Iheanacho has to see off competition from Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, Manchester City attacking midfielder Phil Foden, Cheltenham Town's Northern Ireland international Kyle Vassell and Brentford attacker Yoanne Wissa.
The Super Eagles star netted his second goal of the season as Leicester City defeated Millwall 2-0 at the Den on Wednesday night.
Two minutes from time, the Foxes number 14 belted the ball into the roof of the net to double the advantage.
Iheanacho's goal against the Lions was his ninth in the Carabao Cup since making his debut in the competition versus Crystal Palace in October 2015.
The 2013 U17 World Cup winner has made sixteen appearances in the Carabao Cup, twelve of them in the colours of Leicester City.
