Almeria striker Sadiq nets fifth goal of the season, wins penalty against Tenerife
Published: September 24, 2021
Almeria are first in the provisional LaLiga SmartBank standings after beating Tenerife 3-1 at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos on Friday night.
Former Nigeria U23 international Umar Sadiq played a significant role in the victory, winning a penalty for the Rojiblancos before getting on the scoresheet.
Ramazani gave Almeria the lead in the 72nd minute, converting a penalty awarded after Sadiq was felled in the area just as he was ready to pull the trigger.
The Almeria number 9 made it 2-0 in the 75th minute, outpacing his marker before flicking the ball over the goalkeeper to score his fifth goal in seven games.
An own goal from Sipcic with three minutes left on the clock restored Almeria's two-goal advantage after Shashoua had halved the deficit.
After seven matches in the Spanish second-tier, Sadiq has scored against four different teams, opening his account for the season vs FC Cartagena, before goals against Malaga, AD Alcorcón (2) and Tenerife.
Almeria have ten days before resuming their LaLiga SmartBank campaign against Girona on Monday, October 4.
