NFF's Best Performer of the Year looking forward to facing West Ham United in UEL
Published: September 25, 2021
Fresh from winning the Nigeria Football Federation's Best Performer of the Year, Paul Onuachu says he is looking forward to facing West Ham United in the Europa League.
Racing Genk will do battle with the Premier League side in back-to-back Europa League group stage matches after the second international break of the season.
Everyone expected Onuachu to seal a move to a club in the top five European Leagues in the summer transfer window after a banner 2020-2021 campaign that saw him win the Golden Boot award in Belgium with 33 goals but a transfer did not happen.
This week, the FC Ebedei product signed a one-year contract extension that keeps him at the Limburg club until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
On the upcoming matches vs West Ham, Onuachu told Het Laatste Nieuws via Voetbal Primeur : "I don't want to put extra pressure on myself, but those are the matches I dream of.
"If we win against Zagreb on Thursday, we will be 50% sure of qualifying for the next round".
Onuachu has been in blistering form so far this season, scoring 8 goals in eleven matches across all competitions.
