Palace's Olise scores brilliant goal to announce EPL arrival, birthday boy Iheanacho on target too
Published: October 03, 2021Super Eagles target Michael Olise announced his English Premier League arrival with a brilliant goal for Crystal Palace as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester City at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
The summer signing from Reading proved the difference after coming off the bench to replace Jordan Ayew in the 53rd minute and with the Eagles trailing 2-0.
Birthday boy Kelechi Iheanacho snatched the ball off Andersen and stroked the ball into the back of the net to open the scoring in the 31st minute.
Jamie Vardy fired the ball into the bottom corner to give the Foxes a two-goal advantage in the 33rd minute.
Eight minutes after his introduction, Olise halved the deficit with a left-footed shot that went into the bottom corner.
The teenage winger had miscued his first shot which hit Ryan Bertrand but it dropped nicely back onto his left leg to sweep first-time into the net.
It was Olise's first Premier League goal in his third appearance for Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace were back on level terms as Schlupp finished from close range in the 72nd minute, a minute after Iheanacho made way for Maddison.
Following the draw, Leicester City are 13th in the table with eight points, one point more than the Eagles who are 14th heading into the international break.
