2022 WCQ : Genk goal machine to undergo late fitness test pre-Central African Republic
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is sweating over the fitness of Paul Onuachu before his side's 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Central African Republic on Thursday evening.

The former FC Midtjylland goal poacher has picked up where he left off last season by scoring an impressive 11 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for Racing Genk this campaign.

Onuachu did not participate in full training during the Super Eagles first training session on grass after suffering a minor ankle injury while training at the hotel on Tuesday morning.

Rohr didn't want to take any risks with the center forward and asked him to undergo an individual session with the Super Eagles' physiotherapists on Tuesday evening.

The Franco-German will observe Onuachu during this evening's workout at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and will make a final decision on Thursday morning if he can participate in the matchday three fixture after a fitness test.

The 27-year-old was an impact substitute for the Super Eagles in their last two 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scoring against Republic of Benin and Lesotho after coming off the bench.

If Onuachu is not cleared to play by the Super Eagles medical team, former Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to provide cover for Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho.
