'They were not strong enough' - Keown slams Man Utd defenders for allowing Dennis to score
Published: November 21, 2021
Watford grabbed their first home win under new boss Claudio Ranieri in emphatic fashion, thrashing Manchester United 4-1 at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
Joshua King broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark after he was set up by Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr put his penalty disappointment behind him when he lashed home from inside the box to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead at the interval.
After assisting Joao Pedro score Watford's third goal, Dennis made it
4-1 with a brilliant accurate strike into the bottom corner in stoppage
time.
This is the second game in three matchdays that the Nigeria international has been involved in three goals, taking his goal involvement to nine (4 goals, 5 assists) in eleven appearances in the Premier League.
Arsenal icon Martin Keown has slammed Manchester United defenders for allowing Dennis to steal in behind them before he fired a low accurate shot past goalkeeper David de Gea .
Speaking on BBC One, Keown said : "That last Watford goal was about passion and desire. Where were the defenders? They were not strong enough".
Dennis has played mostly as a left winger since his
move to Watford but was deployed in the center forward position against
Manchester United.
