Report : Napoli interested in Augsburg central defender who can also play left-back, Uduokhai
Published: November 26, 2021
Italian Serie A club Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Augsburg's Nigeria-eligible central defender Felix Uduokhai.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Napoli Today, Napoli are looking to reinforce their squad with two Bundesliga players in the January transfer window, Uduokhai and Borussia Moenchegladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus.
Predominantly a center back, Uduokahi is also comfortable playing as a left-back.
The former Germany U21 international is currently recovering from a long-term injury that has kept him out for the best part of this season.
The Annaberg-Buchholz native went the distance in the first four games played by Augsburg this term.
Should Uduokhai's transfer to Napoli materialize, he will link up Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is attempting to convince Uduokhai to switch his allegiance from Germany to the Super Eagles but has not been successful so far.
The defender has a contract with Augsburg until June 30, 2024.
